Which airport for Icmeler

Which Airport For Icmeler

Marmaris is a popular holiday destination in Turkey, but the sunny resort does not have an airport. Do you want to know which airport is closest to Marmaris? You can read everything here you need to know about transportation in and around Marmaris.

Dalaman Airport (DLM)

Icmeler has become a second home for many British tourists and ex-pats, as well as tourists from Russia and the Ukraine, Poland, Germany and the Netherlands to name just a few. The nearest town to Icmeler, Marmaris, is quite small with a low population out of season so it doesn’t have its own airport. The nearest airport is Dalaman, the second closest being Bodrum airport.

Dalaman airport is closest to Icmeler, just 100 km away. The international terminal is modern as it was built in 2006. Around 3.5 million people use this airport each year with the busiest time being tourist season, between May and November. It’s a very nice terminal with facilities such as cafes and restaurants, Wifi and duty free shops, although the price of food and drinks is relatively high. For an extra 30 Euros there’s a CIP lounge with comfortable chairs, a nap zone, terrace, playground, workstation, magazines and Satellite TV in different languages.

There are more direct flights between Europe and Dalaman in the tourist season but you can reach Dalaman airport via Istanbul all year round.

Bus shuttle services are run by the companies Havas and Muttas and bus departure times depend on the flights. This is the most economical way to travel and the journey takes around 3 hours. There is more information on Havas buses on this website www.havas.net/bodrum/. These buses are comfortable but if you prefer a private airport transfer this may be more efficient and convenient. You can book a vehicle online through a company such as Vista Transfer https://vistatransfer.com/transfer/marmaris-region/icmeler for around £30. This is especially suitable for families or small groups. These vehicles are spacious and luxurious with air conditioning and are cheaper than taxis, which charge around £90. The journey takes around 1 hour 40 minutes by private bus or 1 hour 30 minutes by taxi.

Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV)

Bodrum airport (BJV) is a little further at 130 km from Marmaris. The airport was completed in 2000.

There are a lot of reasonably priced flights from London to Bodrum but most are via Istanbul so the plane journey can take anything from 7 to 15 hours depending on the wait at Istanbul airport. The flight times and prices are sometimes better than Dalaman airport. Companies such as Pegasus and Easy Jet have good bargains.

If you want to hire a car to travel to Icmeler and go sightseeing, there are car hire companies at Bodrum airport such as Avis, Europcar and Hertz. The slowest but cheapest way to travel is by public transport such as a Havas shuttle bus, taking around 5 hours. Again, taxis are the most expensive option with a private vehicle being more economical. This makes for a shorter trip of just 2 hours. You can book online through a company such as Vista Transfer for 80 £.
