Is Marmaris hot in September?

Marmaris is located at the point where the Mediterranean and Aegean seas converge, meaning the weather is generally very good and the sea is still nice and warm even in the autumn.  September is the ideal month for a holiday in Marmaris – still hot enough to sunbathe and do water sports but pleasant enough for sightseeing in the morning and still warm enough to have an evening meal outdoors.  Cloudy or rainy days are almost unheard of during this month so you’re pretty much guaranteed to enjoy bright sunshine and clear blue skies every day of your holiday.

Perfect Weather

There’s an average of one day of rain, and perhaps even a storm, in September, but this passes quickly leaving everywhere clean and fresh.  The lack of humidity makes the weather even more comfortable than July and August, with clear views for taking great photographs.  What’s more, in early September most families are heading back home to prepare for the return to school so Marmaris is less crowded at this time of year.

The sun rises quite early, before 7am, and the temperature is about 25°C.  You can enjoy a Turkish breakfast in perfect settings, while the air is still and warm, listening to the sound of crickets.  A refreshing early morning dip in the calm sea might be a good way to start the day.  The sea temperature in Marmaris averages 27°C in September, gradually dropping to around 24°C towards the end of the month.

Mornings are the best time for sightseeing.  A sunhat, sunglasses and high factor suncream are recommended as the sun is quite bright in September.  This perfect weather means you’re almost guaranteed to be able to fulfil whatever plans you have for the day, be it a Fishing Tour, Dolphin Show, Diving Tour or a visit to the legendary Cleopatra Island.  There are so many activities to fill your day and the weather won’t let you down!

Midday Sun

Later in the morning it can get over 30°C but there is usually a pleasant breeze and at midday it’s just right for having lunch al fresco at the restaurant of your choice.  In the afternoon you might like to join the Village Tour and do some shopping for souvenirs, sampling the local culture, or visit the Muğla Market and buy fresh produce.  September is the season for delicious locally grown fruits like grapes, pears and watermelons, the likes of which you have probably never tasted before.

Sunset on the Beach

Whether you have had an exciting day at the waterpark, swimming with dolphins or go-karting, or whether your day has consisted of a relaxing visit to a natural spa and a swim with dolphins, you will no doubt be ready for an enjoyable evening meal.  In Marmaris you can choose a restaurant to suit your taste and budget, and dine in the warm evening air watching the sunset by the sea.
