The walking tour mostly consisted of a few shopping streets and visits to certain shops the guide seemed to have connections with. The guide was often on the phone and provided very little information.

We booked the tour on a rainy day, and our guide Hal was flexible enough to suggest postponing it to the next day when the weather was expected to improve. That was a great decision. The meeting point was easy to find, and the coordination was smooth (even though we were late, which was our fault). The boat ride used the public commuter ferry system, and on a sunny day, it’s a wonderful way to experience the Bosphorus with beautiful views of Karakoy, Sultanahmet, and later Kadikoy. Walking with Hal made us feel like part of the local community. It was a great way to gain confidence exploring some of Istanbul’s lesser known areas.
