Do I need a visa for Bodrum, Turkey?

Are you preparing for an exciting, fun-filled holiday in Bodrum, Turkey? Thinking about practicalities such as getting a visa can be daunting. If you are a citizen of Europe, UK or the United States travelling to Bodrum or any other city in Turkey you may need a tourist visa, which allows you to stay in Turkey for up to 90 days without a residence permit.

This is much easier than you might think. Gone are the days when you had to visit your local Turkish consulate or embassy with your documents and spend hours waiting to fill in forms. Just sit in front of your computer with your passport and credit card and everything can be sorted out in just 3 minutes! Just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months as from your date of arrival in Turkey. Citizens of Georgia, The Netherlands, Italy, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Leichtenstein, Malta, Ukraine and Greece can enter Turkey with just their ID cards. Citizens of Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland, Luxemburg and Portugal can enter even if their passports have expired within the last 5 years.

Where can I get a visa?

Luckily, it is easier than ever to get a visa for tourism or commerce. Passport holders can apply onlne from the comfort of their own home, by visiting this website: www.evisa.gov.tr The process is very quick and it is cheaper than getting a visa at the airport. You can pay online using Visa, Mastercard or another credit or debit card. If you are travelling with a tour company, they may obtain the visa for you. The cost of an e-Visa varies between $15-$80 depending on the country of residence and it is free for some countries. If you live in Europe or the USA, the cost is $20 and it is $60 for tourists coming over from Canada and Australia. So it is both easy and affordable to arrange a holiday in Bodum with your family. If you have no internet access or you don’t want to fill in the online form you can still get a visa at the local Turkish consulate, it’s up to you.

The tourist-friendly e-visa makes life easier for everyone!

As from April 2013, the e-visa has replaced the sticker visa so that all the tourists who love the climate and the beaches in Bodrum and surrounding areas can avoid trailing to the local Turkish consulate and standing in queues for hours. It is hard to believe but filling in the online form with your details and paying by credit card only takes three minutes. So why not book a holiday now and look forward to spending time in the sunshine with your family?
