From Kemer: Pamukkale Tour with Hot Air Balloon Flight

It was a bit tiring, but absolutely worth it! The transport was very comfortable. The hot air balloon ride was the absolute highlight watching the sunrise over the stunning landscape was unforgettable. After that, we visited the hot springs and the ancient ruins in Pamukkale. Our guide shared a lot of interesting historical facts and was overall a really friendly and helpful person. She even gave us some great tips for things to do in Antalya. If you’re looking for something different from the usual beach activities and it fits your budget, I’d definitely recommend this experience!

An unforgettable experience! Our guide was lovely and very patient. We really enjoyed the trip and all the attractions. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to pay extra for the entrance fee to Pamukkale. The food was good an open buffet with starters, main courses, and desserts. Drinks weren’t included, but the average price for soft drinks for two people is reasonable. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes, and bring a hat or cap.

The trip went smoothly with pick up and drop off at our hotel. Though we started very early, it was definitely worth it. We either watched the hot air balloons or took a ride ourselves. Afterwards, our guide led us through the old town and up to the terraces of Pamukkale. Guide was attentive to the group’s needs, energetic, and very knowledgeable about the area and its history. The only downside was the restaurant included in the tour, which charged quite a lot for drinks.

Our tour guide was truly lovely. The only issue with this tour was that the balloon ride wasn’t included, which wasn’t clearly stated in the description it only mentioned watching the hot air balloons. A few others had the same problem. Luckily, our guide managed to arrange for us to take the balloon ride, though some people couldn’t join because there wasn’t enough space. Overall, I’d still rate it five stars.

The hot air balloon experience was a perfect 10 out of 10. Unfortunately, the transportation was very disappointing the seats were uncomfortable and the greenhouse was broken.

The only thing that made this tour bearable was our guide, who was confident, caring, and extremely knowledgeable. What didn’t work for me? There’s quite a list. The photos shown online don’t reflect reality. The balloon flight mostly goes over a meadow for an hour and that’s about it. The basket is overcrowded, making it impossible to move around. The air conditioning only works at the front, and the driver switches it off during stops, turning the bus back into an oven. As for the pools, you can’t actually swim in them instead, hundreds of people are crowded, wading in tight spaces. Honestly, it wasn’t very enjoyable.

The flight was disappointing. The balloon was torn in several places, which made it look unattractive and quite alarming. At the end of the trip, it took a long time to load the basket onto the trailer, and it nearly tipped over with us still inside. The towing process was also very slow. All of this really affected my overall impression of the experience negatively.

The coach was punctual, and overall, everything was well organized. The balloon ride was great fun, and we were lucky to have an excellent pilot and team. Pamukkale was very beautiful and definitely worth visiting, especially if you enjoy natural rock formations. However, the coach had a persistent squeak or screech that became quite annoying after just a few minutes, let alone during the six-hour journey. There were also a couple of unadvertised shopping stops that felt more like opportunities to push overpriced tourist items. The lunch restaurant wasn’t very appealing, and the food looked bland and generic. After checking reviews, we saw it mostly had one star ratings. It wasn’t terrible, but I would recommend proceeding with caution.

I have a mix of thoughts about this excursion. On the positive side, it's a great deal for a full day trip including the balloon ride and lunch. The guide was friendly and attentive, which I really appreciated. However, the day didn’t start well. As a solo traveler, I was left waiting in the dark for about 45 minutes because the driver was late. My hotel was in the old town, so I had to walk a bit on my own in the early hours, which wasn’t very comfortable or safe. Punctuality would’ve made a big difference. Also, there were no bathroom breaks for the first six hours of the day, so keep that in mind if you're planning to join the first proper stop was after the balloon activity. There were also a few unannounced stops clearly aimed at selling souvenirs, which I wasn’t a fan of. Lunch was actually delicious, though drinks weren’t included not a big issue. Entrance to Hierapolis was a bit pricey, and although it’s an impressive site, the famous Pamukkale pools were mostly dry and very crowded, which took away from the experience a little. All in all, it’s a decent trip, just be prepared for a few things and manage your expectations.

The ride to Pamukkale was quite long and the van wasn’t very comfortable. The driver also drove at a high speed, which made the journey feel a bit uneasy. However, one concerning issue was that during the balloon ride, we left our backpack with our wallet inside the van, and when we came back, we noticed that some money was missing from the wallet.

Our four star rating is entirely because of the tour guide he was both entertaining and wel informed, and extremely helpful throughout. I would definitely recommend him to others. The day trip involved a fair amount of walking, and we had a couple of hours of free time to explore the various sites. However, in the morning, we had to wait almost 40 minutes for the transport to arrive, and when we tried contacting them about the delay, they stopped answering our calls.

Throughout the tour, the guide frequently mentioned that there would be extra fees for entering Pamukkale and again for Cleopatra’s Antique Pool. It would have been helpful to know about these additional costs ahead of time. The guide also kept urging us to hurry so we could return on schedule and he could finish early. It would have been good to be informed that the video of the balloon ride was an additional charge. The lunch was nothing special, and the drink prices felt extremely overpriced. The van’s seats were quite tight since the interior had been redesigned to look nice, which it did, but this reduced the space for window seats. Although the guide promised a short restroom break on the way back, they didn’t stop or check if anyone needed one. There was also an unnecessary stop at an Onyx factory to encourage purchases, which shortened the time we had to explore Pamukkale properly.

However, I expected the certificates to be more personalized, especially since all passenger details were collected in advance. The transfer, on the other hand, was disappointing. Despite the bus having a modern and stylish interior, the air conditioning was clearly insufficient, and the bus was uncomfortably hot throughout the journey. The option to visit the Pamukkale fields isn’t really a true choice the guide makes it seem like a required paid activity; otherwise, you’re left alone in a run down village and told you’ll be picked up four hours later.
