Overview

Embark on an unforgettable full-day journey through Cappadocia with our Green Tour, designed to showcase the region’s rich history, stunning landscapes, and cultural heritage. Your adventure begins with a visit to the Underground Cities, a network of subterranean shelters used for centuries to protect inhabitants from invaders. Although the exact number of these cities remains uncertain, estimates range from 100 to 300. The underground spaces are equipped with everything needed for survival, including kitchens, storage rooms, and wineries. As you explore the narrow tunnels, note that this part of the tour may not be suitable for those with claustrophobia due to the confined spaces.

Next, enjoy a serene 3-kilometer walk through Ihlara Valley, following the Melendis River through the picturesque canyon. Along the way, discover ancient churches, tombs, and frescoes that offer a glimpse into the monastic life that flourished here in the 13th and 14th centuries.

The tour continues with a stop at the Göreme Panorama, where you’ll take in sweeping views of the stunning valleys. For those wishing to relax, there are coffee shops to enjoy a break. At Pigeon Valley, marvel at the unique pigeon houses carved into the soft tuff rock formations—an iconic feature of the landscape.

Next, explore the Selime Monastery, a remarkable 8th-9th century educational center and religious site, offering insights into Cappadocia’s monastic history. Finally, visit the Precious Stone House, where you can discover a variety of beautiful gems unique to the region.

Lunch is included, and hotel pick-up and drop-off ensure a comfortable experience from start to finish. This tour offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and culture, making it a must-do for anyone visiting Cappadocia.

We did the Green Tour with our teenage kids, and everyone loved it. The Underground Cities were an adventure, though a bit narrow in places. Ihlara Valley was gorgeous and a nice break from walking underground. The guide was great at explaining the history without it feeling too heavy. Lunch was tasty, and the views at Pigeon Valley and Selime Monastery were unforgettable.

We had a great day on the Green Tour. The Underground Cities were fascinating but a bit tight in spots, which was a little uncomfortable for some in our group. The walk through Ihlara Valley was gorgeous and peaceful. The stops at Göreme Panorama and Selime Monastery offered amazing views. The lunch was good, though a bit basic. Overall, a solid experience with plenty to see.

The tour was well organized and covered a lot of ground. The underground part was very interesting, but not ideal if you’re claustrophobic. I enjoyed the walk along the river and the chance to see those ancient churches. The guide was informative but sometimes rushed through the explanations. Still, I’d recommend it for anyone wanting a mix of history and nature.

We really liked the mix of history and nature on this tour. The views from Göreme Panorama and Pigeon Valley were stunning. The Underground Cities were cool to explore but felt a bit crowded at times. The schedule felt a bit tight; we would’ve loved a little more time at Selime Monastery. The included lunch was a nice touch. Overall, a very enjoyable day.

The underground tunnels were impressive, though not for the claustrophobic. The hike through Ihlara Valley gave me a chance to enjoy nature and history together. Selime Monastery was awe inspiring, and the Precious Stone House was a nice surprise at the end. The group was small, and the guide was very knowledgeable. Perfect day trip.
