Unfortunately, our shuttle driver got lost while trying to find the balloon launch site, which made us quite anxious about potentially missing the initial balloon setup something we were really excited about. On top of that, the road was very bumpy, and the driver's speed felt a bit too fast for those conditions, making the ride rather uncomfortable. To make matters more challenging, the driver didn't speak English, so it was hard to understand what was going on or how long the delay might last. Better communication would have helped us feel more at ease. The balloon experience itself was unforgettable, but we think these shuttle-related issues could be improved for future travelers.

Everyone we encountered from the van driver to the pilot and the ground crew was warm, friendly, and professional. The only downside was the location of the launch site, which was quite a distance from our hotel in Ürgüp. The drive was long, and once we arrived, there were only a few other balloons in the area. You could see hundreds of balloons far off in the distance, which made our spot feel a bit removed from the main action. While the scenery was still beautiful, it wasn't quite as striking as the more central take off areas. We had originally booked with a different company at a significantly lower rate, departing from a better location and including pastries and hot drinks before takeoff. Unfortunately, after several days of cancellations due to weather, our booking was dropped, and the next available flights were double was the only operator I could find with availability for the four of us, and thankfully it was still under $1,000 total. Our pilot was excellent, and I'm truly grateful we were able to fly at all. But if I could plan it again, I'd choose a company based in one of the central launch zones. A little extra comfort at the start like a warm drink or a small bite would have made a difference, especially with the long early morning drive. Also, just a heads up: the post flight “champagne” is non alcoholic and extremely sweet it tasted like bubblegum. The kids (under 10) loved it though!

Undoubtedly the most thrilling and unique experience in Cappadocia. At dawn, we took off from the Göreme valleys with a highly skilled and engaging pilot. It’s a shame he didn’t speak Italian, but the two hour flight was absolutely fearless and full of excitement. They only fly when the weather is perfect, ensuring safety. The price was a bit steep at per person for the two hours, but the nonstop adventure made it worth it. At the end, they offered sparkling wine and the option to purchase a USB with your recorded flight.

I’m not sure if this company brokers with many others in the area, but we ended up flying with Balloon Turca. The whole region really has ballooning down to a science it’s incredible how they launch over 70 balloons from the same spot! Our pilot was extremely skilled, and the views were stunning. The driver picked us up right on time at 5:35 am, just as promised.

We really enjoyed our first hot air balloon ride. The pickup was punctual, and our pilot was very skilled. The views of the chimney rock formations were stunning, and watching the sunrise from the balloon was truly awesome. The pilot expertly maneuvered the balloon, taking us high up and then flying just a few feet from the rocks an incredible experience. The landing right on the tractor trailer was impressive! The only downside was that the basket felt a bit crowded, with 3,4 people in each small compartment. Also, it seemed like the operators favored their own group, placing them in the corner compartments which had better views.

A fantastic way to see Cappadocia from above alongside around 150 other balloons. The pilot showed great skill flying the balloon into the valley and narrowly avoiding a hill then expertly recovering. The only drawback was the steep price. The views were absolutely stunning! I went with a friend who was a bit anxious, but she didn’t notice any shaking or instability during takeoff. The crew arrived at our hotel right on schedule, and after picking up other passengers, we headed to the launch site. It was much closer than we expected if you’re staying in Göreme, you might even walk there. Upon arrival, we received bags with a water bottle, croissant, juice box, and hand wipe. About 20 of us climbed into the balloon basket, and we floated for just over an hour. The views were breathtaking, and the pilot skillfully took us up, down, and even turned the basket so everyone could enjoy the scenery from all angles. When we landed, there was a non alcoholic champagne toast and we received certificates. You could also buy photos from the photographer or souvenir keychains. Afterwards, everyone was dropped back at their hotels. If you’re nervous, don’t be just go for it!

This is a one of a kind experience with breathtaking scenery, and one of the most striking moments is seeing so many balloons lift off at the same time it truly feels like a real show. On the downside, the industry has become something of a monopoly. In a country where the average monthly salary is around the cost of per person is quite steep. In the past, balloons carried about 10 passengers, but now there are no fewer than 22. It's a lucrative business. Why do we still pay it? Because it's the kind of expense you justify once on a trip, knowing you won't repeat it at that price. In short, it's worth doing, but with some reservations.

We were picked up from our hotel at 5 am and ended up waiting about an hour before our balloon ride. They provided a small snack, including apple juice, water, and a chocolate croissant. Since I'm very lactose intolerant, I only managed to eat some baby snacks for breakfast. The flight lasted around 50 minutes. After landing, we celebrated with a non alcoholic champagne to mark the safe experience. The driver then returned us to our hotel.
