From Alanya: Antalya City Tour W/ Cable Car and Waterfalls

We had an amazing day exploring Antalya’s old town. Mete was the first person we spoke to and really set the tone, assuring us we’d be well taken care of and leave with big smiles, and he was right. Our tour guide Mahmet was fantastic. He knew tons about the history and even took time to explain how the currency works, especially the exchange from euros to lira. He was also happy to answer any questions and encouraged us to ask away. The cable car ride was incredible, and the view from the mountain top made the €15 ticket totally worth it. We had plenty of time to wander through the old town, which was a real highlight, the charming shops, the stunning architecture like Hadrian’s Gate, and the beautiful harbor. The day ended with a visit to Durden Waterfall, which was absolutely breathtaking. We gave our driver Suleyman a well, deserved tip since the whole trip was about six hours round trip just from Alanya to Antalya, not including the stops. It’s a long day but definitely worth it. I’d suggest bringing some water with you, although there are reasonably priced refreshments available on the bus. Two hours might seem like a lot to explore the old town, but it goes by quickly. Just be ready for the friendly shop sellers, they’re lovely but can take up quite a bit of your time.

I found a link online, visited the website, the prices were reasonable. This was my first time in Turkey, but I hope not the last. I took a sightseeing tour around Alanya with a Russian-speaking guide named Jan (or Khan). He shared all the stories about the fortress and the island and had a great sense of humor. I’m happy with the tour and will add some photos from the trip.

We were a group of six and the whole day felt effortless from the hotel pickup to the return. Düden felt magical — the paths and the spray were a great wake-up, and the cable car that followed gave us ridiculous photo angles of the coast. Kaleiçi’s narrow streets were compact but full of character; our guide pointed out little architectural details that the guidebooks miss. Lunch had a good range so everyone found something they liked, and we had enough free time at the harbor to grab coffee and wander. Great mix of nature, views and history for a day away from Alanya.

Our teenagers actually enjoyed this (a minor miracle) — the combination of the falls, the cable car, and the old town kept them engaged. The cable car gave everyone a chance to put their phones down and really look at the Mediterranean and cliffs below, and Kaleiçi offered enough quirky shops and photo spots to keep them interested. The guide struck a nice balance between historical facts and fun anecdotes, and lunch had plenty of options so even the fussiest teen was satisfied.
