Our tour to the ancient city of Ephesus stars with the pick up service from your hotel. After one hour, we will stop at the province city of Mugla and have a delicious open buffet breakfast at the lovely local restaurant. Then, we will continue our trip to the great ancient city of Ephesus. During this lengthy drive our experienced, professional, English speaking guide will give you some basic information about the program of the tour, as well as our destinations.
We will also take a break in the charming town of Selchuk, famous for its Turkish delicacy factory. There you can taste delectable Turkish deserts, such as crusty, juicy lokma, peanut covered sambali cake, sticky and delicious sekerpare, and so much more. This comfort break is neccesery for preperation before entering ancient city. After our tasty visit is over, we will head to legendary Ephesus.
Once we reach the great Ephesus, we will continue our tour on foot. During our walk through the ancient city of Ephesus we will come across with impressive ruins such as The Odeon, State Agora, Temple of Hadrian, The Prytaneion, Domitian Square, Hercules Gate, The Fountain of Trajan, Curetes Street, The Arcadian Way, Celsius Library, The Gymnasium, The Grand Theatre, and much more. All of these monuments are very well preserved and they remain a beacon of Christianity, and a great reminder of the history of this magnificent ancient city.
After our visit to the ancient city of Ephesus we will have our lunch break at Selcuk. The day contiues after the lunch. In the afternoon you will have the chance to visit the remains of the magnificent Artemis Temple. This temple was built to honor Artemis, one of the highest and most powerful of all Greek deities. Artemis was the goddess of hunt, chastity, virginity, moon, and nature. Artemis Temple is one of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
We will also visit the House of Virgin Mary. In some historical writings it is stated that St. John brought Virgin Mary to Ephesus after the death of Christ, and there was a small house built for her on Bulbuldagi Mountain. This wonderful site is believed to be the last residence of The Blessed Virgin Mary. The House of Virgin Mary was declared to be one of the centers of Christian pilgrimage.

The visit was informative and rich in historical detail, though our time on-site was limited to just three hours. Getting the audio guide turned out to be a smart decision—it added valuable context throughout the tour. Ephesus truly deserves more time, as we felt there was still so much left unexplored. I found myself wondering if there’s a virtual reality option available, as the ruins really invite deeper exploration. We've decided to return on our own in the future to enjoy the site at a slower pace.

We were picked up right on schedule, just as planned. Both breakfast and lunch were enjoyable, and the guide along with the driver did a fantastic job throughout the day. Our time in Ephesus was well organized, and we appreciated having some free time to explore on our own. Details about the additional entrance fees for Ephesus were explained clearly in advance. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Everything on the tour was smoothly coordinated, and we really felt cared for throughout the day. Although it was quite a long outing, visiting the historical sites made it completely worthwhile. Nur was a fantastic guide from start to finish. Since the tour started early, she personally arranged for a hotel pickup, which was a thoughtful touch. She took great care of us throughout the day. The coach had excellent air conditioning and was very comfortable, and both breakfast and lunch were plentiful and tasty. Ephesus was an incredible place to visit, and Nur shared so much interesting information with us. We appreciated having a good balance between guided explanations and time to explore on our own. As a bonus, we also stopped at a really interesting ceramics studio and had some additional free time to wander around the area, including a visit to St. John’s Basilica.

Appreciate the beauty of a place, it’s essential to first listen to it and grasp its story. Too often, we simply look around, snap a few photos, and soon the details fade from memory. But that changes when someone like Nur from Hector is guiding you—she has a way of helping everything fall into place and make sense. Ephesus is truly a remarkable site, but the experience becomes even more memorable when you have the right guide to bring its atmosphere to life. We were fortunate to meet Nur from Hector, whose passion and knowledge could easily awaken even the deepest sleeper.
