Tour Details

Cappadocia holds a long religious history, that is about to excite you, if you are passionate about sightseeing. Join our Monasteries of Cappadocia Tour, and get to explore the most interesting aspects of the region. Churches, monasteries, imposing views, and a flawless mystical atmosphere, are among the things you can expect from this excursion. Want to know more?

This full day exploration in Cappadocia begins in the morning. A comfortable and fully air-conditioned car will pick you up from your hotel on a prescheduled time. For a smoother and better experience, the tour is guided by a professional, who is in charge of providing detailed descriptions about the places of interest.

The road trip towards the first stop of the day, takes approximately one hour. However, the road is full of nice views. Make yourself comfortable, and enjoy the ride to EskiGumusler Monastery. Once there, the guide is about to brief you on its history and importance. One of the most interesting highlights of this place, is that it is the best kept, and well-preserved monastery in the region. Within its premises, you will visit the church, that is beautifully decorated with frescoes. One of them, presents Virgin Mary while smiling, which is considered a rare scene.

The excursion continues to Guzelyurt (Gelveri) village, that is famous for accommodating a big percentage of Cappadocia’s Christian population, up until 1924. At the village, you will visit the Monastery Valley. The area has multiple churches, and among them is the Church of Saint Gregory, that is the oldest in the region. Feel free to ask the guide anything you need to know about the village, and the churches.

By the end of your visit at the village, the bus will drive you to a local restaurant. A tasty lunch follows, during which you can relax, and enjoy the serenity of the setting. Your meal includes some typical recipes, made with local ingredients.

After lunch, the tour continues with a visit at Selime Monastery. An interesting information is that it forms the biggest monastery in Cappadocia. As the guide explains the site’s history, you will see the church, as well as the various rooms of the monastery. Salime is really impressive, and holds a long history back in time. This full day excursion finishes in the afternoon. By the end of your last stop, the bus will start driving you back. Expect to return at your hotel in the afternoon, full of great information, and new images.
