If you’re looking for a fun, adventurous way to explore the surrounding area of Kas look no further than our Kas Jeep Safari day. This whole day tour takes in the surrounding ancient cities of Xanthos and Patara as well as visiting the beautiful natural scenic site of the Saklikent gorge. Our jeeps are an adrenaline filled way to travel around these awesome tourist sites and you are guaranteed the best view possible from up high as our uninterrupted vistas amaze you.
The day begins at 9.30am in Kas when you will meet your jeep driver who will be looking after you for the day. After introductions and a quick run through of the day’s activities we will jump into our top of the range jeeps and begin our safari. We’ll drive on rough road and through over dirt tracks as our jeeps take you to places other vehicles cannot. We’ll go through small villages and stop off and enjoy some local tea.
One of the fun things to do on this tour is to engage in water fights between other jeeps as we ride through the countryside. Don’t be surprised if the local farmers also get involved. It’s a great way to cool down in the midday heat.
When we arrive at the Saklikent gorge we’ll leave our jeeps behind for a while, and take a walk down into the valley. The gorge itself forms part of the border between the Turkish regions of Antalya and Mugla and is the longest gorge in Turkey. Our walk is at a very sedate pace and we walk less than 2km which is enough to give us some spectacular views.
Following this terrific nature stop we’ll enjoy a traditional, local lunch. It’s also possible for those who’d like to take a mudbath before we move on for some afternoon exploring. Remember to bring a spare change of clothing if you would like this experience.
In the afternoon our jeeps will take us to the ancient city of Xanthos. This was the first capital of the Lycian union and is a great spot to see old ruins and take photographs. You guide will be on hand to explain the myths and legends made famous here.
From Xanthos we journey to our last destinations of the day Patara and Kaputas beaches. Patara is the longest beach in Turkey and you’ll no doubt enjoy the chance to take a swim in the warm sea. Kaputas is more natural and is a lovely spot to end the day’s adventures.
Our jeeps will then transfer you back to Kas after a full-on day of adventure.
Our drivers will collect you from your hotel and take you to the Jeep head quarters for a 9.00am start
Jeeps: Our jeeps are all well maintained and allow for great viewing as you are seated higher than in normal cars. They are all open top which allows for uninterrupted views as we drive through this stunning countryside. All of our drivers are trained and will look after your safety and enjoyment throughout the day.
Drive: During the drive we will visit small villages to see what life is traditionally like around here. Along the way we’ll have the chance to stop off and enjoy some local hospitality. There is always plenty of things to see on our route.
Water Fight: We’ll have some fun with the other jeeps and have a moving water fight as we journey through the countryside. Sometimes the local farmers also get involved.
The longest gorge in Turkey, the Saklikent separates Antalya and Mugla regions. This natural valley is roughly 15 km long. It is possible to walk about 5km with a further 5km using equipment. Today we will be taking about a 2km walk at a steady pace. You’ll be able to view the local wildlife as well as some of Turkey’s beautiful flora and fauna.
Lunch: Following our walk through the gorge we will break for some lunch. Guests can also enjoy a relaxing mud bath at this point. Please remember to bring a spare pair of clothes for this.
Xanthos: The ancient city of Xanthos is our first stop after lunch. This used to be the first ever capital of the Lycian Union and is a really important historical site. Our fully trained guides will be on hand to talk you through the different sites and to explain what life was like when the city was at it’s peak.
Beaches: Our final activities for the day are based around 2 lovely Turkish beaches. First, we’ll visit Patara beach which is the longest beach in all of Turkey. We’ll then go and enjoy the scenery of Kaputas beach. Both offer a great chance to swim in the warm waters or just enjoy the sun from the shoreline.
Return: Our jeep drivers will be waiting to take you home after a fabulous day of sightseeing and adventure.
