The tour begins with a comfortable drive from Didim to Pamukkale, one of Turkey's most iconic natural wonders. Famous for its dazzling white terraces, Pamukkale, meaning “Cotton Castle” in Turkish, is a surreal landscape shaped over thousands of years by mineral-rich thermal waters. These thermal springs have created breathtaking formations of white, calcite-covered terraces and pools, which look like something straight out of a dream. The unique travertine terraces of Pamukkale are not only visually stunning but are also renowned for their therapeutic properties, making them a popular destination for wellness tourism.
As you walk through the terraces, you’ll have the opportunity to dip your toes into the warm, healing waters, which have been used for centuries for their soothing and rejuvenating effects. The sparkling white pools and natural formations make Pamukkale a paradise for photographers, so be sure to have your camera ready to capture this wonder of nature. Spend time relaxing and soaking in the otherworldly beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it provides a rare opportunity to bathe in the natural thermal waters while surrounded by stunning scenery.
After exploring Pamukkale’s terraces, you will head to the nearby ruins of Hierapolis, an ancient city built on the same thermal springs that made Pamukkale famous. Founded as a thermal spa in the 2nd century BC, Hierapolis was once a thriving city with grand monuments, baths, and temples, all constructed to take advantage of the area’s healing waters. The city was known in antiquity for its therapeutic pools and was considered a sacred place where people came to relax and rejuvenate.
Walking through Hierapolis is like stepping back in time. The well-preserved ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into life in the ancient world. One of the highlights of the site is the Roman Theater, an impressive structure that once seated thousands and offers breathtaking views over the surrounding landscapes. Another must-see is the Ancient Temple of Apollo, dedicated to the god of healing, and the Plutonium, an ancient temple known for its "door to the underworld." Visitors can also walk through the Necropolis, one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia, and explore its tombs, sarcophagi, and burial sites that date back more than two thousand years.
A special highlight of your day in Hierapolis is the opportunity to visit the legendary Cleopatra’s Pool. This ancient thermal pool is filled with warm, mineral-rich water that has been enjoyed by emperors, dignitaries, and visitors for centuries. The pool is surrounded by Roman ruins, and its waters are believed to have therapeutic properties. The experience of swimming in the warm, crystal-clear waters while surrounded by ancient columns and fallen stones is nothing short of magical. (Note: Entrance to Cleopatra’s Pool is optional and is not included in the tour price).
This day tour is the perfect escape from the ordinary, offering you the chance to witness some of Turkey’s most incredible natural and historical wonders. Whether you are soaking in the mineral-rich waters of Pamukkale, exploring the ancient streets of Hierapolis, or swimming in the legendary Cleopatra’s Pool, this tour offers a diverse and enriching experience that blends relaxation with adventure. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn about the healing practices of ancient civilizations, connect with nature, and immerse yourself in the timeless beauty of one of Turkey’s most visited destinations.

As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe and enriched by this experience. The small group size allowed for personalized attention from our guide, Mustafa, who wonderfully explained the healing traditions of Hierapolis. Walking barefoot on the warm terraces of Pamukkale at sunset was magical.

At 68, I was apprehensive about the walking, but the pace of the tour was perfect. Pamukkale's mineral pools immediately soothed my joint pain. Our guide, Sultan, pointed out shady resting spots at Hierapolis, along with fascinating commentary on Roman engineering. The air conditioned bus had plenty of legroom. Pay the extra fee for the Cleopatra Pool. Floating among the ancient ruins is an unforgettable experience.
