Photos

The first stop of the day takes place at Cavusin village, atNicephoros Phocas Church. This site is, particularly, important for several reasons. It is the only church with a known building date, and is dedicated to the Byzantine Emperor Nicephoros Phocas. An interesting highlight is that inside the church, there are 20 different frescoes, presenting milestone moments from the life of Jesus Christ.

The schedule includes a stop at Gulsehir town, where you will visit St. Jean Church. The church has two floors, and as a construction is very impressive. More precisely, the church is decorated with Biblical scenes on the upper floor. As you observe the church, the guide is about to explain its history and importance.

After visiting St. Jean Church, the bus will drive you to Avanos town. At a local restaurant, you will have the opportunity to get energized with a tasty lunch. Take your time to relax, and enjoy your meal, as the excursion continues towards the next stop.

Another important site to visit during the day is Pancarlik Church. What really impresses its visitors are the frescoes, which represent scenes that are not shown in other churches in the area. For example, you will have the chance to admire frescoes with The Samaritan Woman and The Healing of the Man with Bad Spirit. Your guide is about to provide detailed descriptions about them, and answer your questions.

This full day tour in Cappadocia finishes in the afternoon. By the end of your last visit, the bus will drive you back at your hotel. Once you arrive back, expect to be full of new images, and interesting information from this alternative, sightseeing experience in Cappadocia.
