Cairo: Female-Guided Pyramids Bazaar and Museum Tour

The whole trip was really well organized, from the pickup all the way to the drop-off, everything ran smoothly. Our tour guide, Jermin, was super friendly and knew a lot. She stayed professional the whole time, explained everything clearly, and even showed us some hidden spots around Giza. I wasn’t feeling well halfway through, but she looked after me and helped out as much as she could. Overall, I felt relaxed and happy with the experience.

Really good trip! Our guide Amaal was super knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Since we were two young women traveling, she made sure we were well looked after. Transport was excellent and lunch was tasty. There was about a 30-minute delay picking us up, but I don’t think it was the company’s fault, and they replied to my messages. We had a bit of a time crunch at the museum and didn’t get to see everything, but overall it was a great trip and I’d definitely recommend it!

The guide showed up late for pickup. We got pretty generic info, then only a few minutes to explore each spot. There wasn’t much excitement about the topics. At the start, we waited an hour while one person did a camel ride and the rest of us just sat by a cafe. I never thought the pyramids could be boring, but this was. Then we were taken to a couple of “museums” that were really just shops selling papyrus and perfumes. Since I didn’t want to spend extra, I just waited around. Lunch was at a touristy buffet. The Egyptian Museum was actually interesting, but we didn’t have enough time to really explore or learn much beyond what you’d find on Wikipedia. I wouldn’t recommend this tour.

We ended up wasting a lot of time at the pyramids because of the hop-on hop-off bus system. Even though the delay wasn’t the guide’s or driver’s fault, the worst part was being taken to a shop selling oils, perfumes, glassware, and papyrus. This stop wasn’t on the program and lasted about an hour. It felt like a forced tourist stop, especially since the official program only has a 30-minute stop at Khan El Khalili, where you can find all that and more. Because of all this, we only got about an hour at the museum before it closed shortly after we arrived. So, while we saw all the places, the museum time was very limited. The visit to the oil and papyrus shop was totally disappointing and could have been avoided.

Looking back, I’d do things a bit differently, if the tour doesn’t cover certain costs, it would be better to raise the price upfront so you don’t feel pressured to buy stuff. Going through shops with expensive items on offer (not exactly forced, but close) made me uncomfortable since I didn’t want to buy anything.
