Our guide Bakr and his cousin, who also drove us, made the trip extraordinary. Most of the time, we had the entire place to ourselves, which added to the uniqueness of the journey. The meals throughout were consistently delicious. Although the drive from Cairo is long, it’s absolutely worth it it felt like stepping into another world. The only downside was that our driver from Cairo occasionally got distracted by his phone, which made the journey a bit tense.

If I could change one thing, I’d skip the sulfur water stop it wasn’t particularly exciting. I’d rather have spent that time soaking in more of the desert. Also, I recommend bringing extra drinking water for brushing your teeth and some plastic bags, just in case nature calls. Sadly, not everyone cleans up after themselves, which can be upsetting. I really think the tour organizers should let people know about this and offer proper waste disposal bags.
