Is Turunc good for nightlife?

The quiet little resort of Turunc on the Turkish Riviera has nice restaurants overlooking the sea where you can take your pick of fine cuisine from varied menus and order drinks from the bar. There are small discos, karaoke nights and entertainment like snake charming and belly dancing. However, it’s not the place to be if you want to dance the night away. Icmeler has more to offer in the way of bars and nightclubs and only takes around 20 minutes by water taxi, from there its quite a short journey to Marmaris, which is the hub of nightlife.

Turunc nightlife

The picturesque little bay is lined with restaurants so you’re bound to find one to suit your taste and budget. Some of the restaurants have bars and the Habit Cocktail and Cafe Bar is a preferred nightspot due to its entertainment – pool, darts, Sky TV showing sports, beer and cocktails. The Walk Inn Bar is another lively spot with a dance floor and a chance to sing along with karaoke. The Day Dream Dance Bar is well loved by British and other visitors for its friendly staff and the chance to play pool in the daytime then enjoy the atmosphere in the evening.

Icmeler nightlife

From Turunc main street you can flag down a bus which will take you to Icmeler, the nearest of the larger resorts. This is the cheapest way to travel at 6.25 Lira (around 80 pence). Alternatively you can get a water taxi, also a fairly short trip with breathtaking views, for 20 Lira (around £2.60) each way. The Sport Inn Cafe Bar has football on TV, live music, calamari, spicy Singapore noodles and wraps, patio heaters and chatty, hospitable staff. For Mojitos and cocktails try the Ace bar. The Canary Bar has barbecue nights and home made cakes. You can have fun at the Irish Bar and Harmony Show Bar watching the drag acts and cabaret or dance the night away at Club Ace or The Ambience.

Marmaris nightlife

The Talk of the Town Cabaret Show at the Cheers Bar travels the world and is quite impressive. At midnight the bars and cafes close, but the night is still young in Marmaris. The nightclubs on Long Beach (Uzunyalı) are brought to life by DJ’s and laser lights. Turkish taverns, or ‘meyhane’s, serve traditional side dishes and drinks like ‘şalgam’ (pronounced shalgam) and rakı. Bar Street is the place to be with its laser shows, dancers and foam parties. A walk on the beach is a good way to take a break from the pounding music.
