Bodrum Walking City Tour

Nowadays, the castle’s several halls are hosting the exhibitions of the Underwater Archaeology Museum. Accompanied by the tour guide, you will have the chance to visit the museum and explore the exhibits. The museum has 14 exhibition departments showcasing ancient artefacts and relics that were found in shipwrecks.

The walking tour continues with a visit at the Zeki Müren Arts Museum. Zeki Muren is one of the most notable and famous composers and performers in the history of the Turkish classical music. This facility used to be his housed and was later on transformed into a museum, exhibiting his clothes and artwork. The guide will let you know important details about his life and his legacy in music.

After that, you will visit one of the wonders of the ancient world, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus. This impressive marble tomb was constructed in 350BC by King Mausolus of Caria. Its height was more than 50 meters with several columns and a pyramid-shaped roof. Unfortunately, earthquakes destroyed this iconic monument. Today, visitors can observe the ruins of this magnificent construction and learn its history while walking around the archaeological site.

The last stop of this walking tour will take place at Myndos Gate. During the 4th century BC, King Mausolus constructed defensive walls that were surrounding and protecting the city of Halikarnassos. Myndos Gate is the only surviving gate of this ancient wall.
